No Direction Homo
In 2006, legendary performance venue P.S. 122 offered Dan three nights to showcase his different projects. Named after the Bob Dylan documentary "No Direction Home," the mini-festival was called "No Direction Homo: The Many Identical Personae of Dan Fishback."
On Night One, Dan's band Cheese On Bread threw a pajama party in the theater, with special guests The Bloodsugars and The O'Debra Twins. The audience was treated to pizza, crafts and cosmetic facial masks. Dan made crank phone calls:
Night Two was a "performance art mix tape," featuring highlights from Dan's previous solo shows. The evening also included the world premiere of "GUSHING," a short, short, short play about menstruation and anal sex that Dan had written in college. It was performed by Billy Rosen and Katharine Croke. Peter Cook directed the playlet, as well as Dan's monologues, which looked like this:
Night Three included special guests The Tri-Lambs, as well as Rae C. Wright performing the work of Deb Margolin. Dan was in solo folksinger mode, singing his own songs with backing band The Faguettes.
The DVD of that night makes horrible, animal-like noises when inserted into a computer, so no video - sorry!
